World & Jazz
It has always been a great source of inspiration and admiration for me to work with Indian artists and here are some of the collaborations I have been fortunate to have been involved in.

Kala, Purbayan and Satyajit recorded several of my pieces on the cds “Natural” and “Lights from the Inner Side” including:
I have since performed with Kala and Purbayan on a number of occasions, including with Purbayan at the Strings of Unity Concert in Kolkata, celebrating Indian Independence. This concert also featured The Violin Brothers (Deb Shankar and Jyoti Shankar), percussionist Shubhankar Banerjee, Kunle Ayo from South Africa and ghazal legend Jagjit Singh.

Jyotsna worked with me on my “My Gypsy Waltz” album, which I launched at the Queen Elizabeth Hall London and St. George’s Bristol, and this is my dedication to the country and all the Indian artists with whom I have collaborated:
Deepak Ram (bansuri – bamboo flute)
Deepak invited me to record on his album “Searching for Satyam” along with Achim Tang (bass), Partha Sarathi Mukherjee (tabla) and Patrice Heral (drums, percussion). I then toured with Deepak in South Africa and the Lebanon and the album subsequently won Best Instrumental Album at the 2000 South African music awards.

The following pictures bring me back to my experimenting times in London with different artists. Lol Coxhill was a colourful man and a great free-jazz improviser with an amazing quality and depth. Very inspiring to me.

I started this band – in my dream I wanted to create a band of musicians of different disciplines and backgrounds from the classical and jazz world and I was very privileged to have such great talents part of it. Great memories that have stayed with me through the times.
